The PTO supports students, families, and school staff by organizing activities, information and supplemental funding. We strive to enhance students' experience by providing programing and classroom funds not otherwise available.
Thanks to the support of the Elm Lawn community, the PTO sends each grade level to an Overture Center performance annually, and students enjoy events at the school like UW Band performances, Farm to School tastings and Girls on the Run. Additionally, the PTO sponsors activities for the entire family such as Family Fun Night and the End of the Year Picnic. PTO also provides each teacher with a discretionary stipend for classroom needs. In the 2010-2011 school year, the PTO initiated a technology fund drive to put overhead projectors and Smart Boards in every classroom. These activities are only possible through the support of the Elm Lawn parents.
The PTO raises money in several ways throughout the year, but primarily through a fall fundraiser. For the second year, the PTO will be using Chip Shoppe for our fundraiser, offering a selection of gifts, wrapping paper and frozen food items.
Parent involvement at Elm Lawn is outstanding. There are several easy ways to get involved with the PTO. Every activity sponsored by the PTO depends on parent volunteers. You can sign up to assist with the planning or to help out at the event. If you are interested in a leadership role, consider being a grade level parent, chairing a committee, or joining the Board of Directors. Information about PTO events can be found on the this website, in the PTO newsletter, and through flyers distributed throughout the year. Of course, PTO Board meetings are always open to parents for information and input. Meeting will be held at 7:00pm on September 12, October 10, January 9, March 13, and May 14.
Thank you in advance for your support and help with PTO committees and fundraising efforts. We look forward to seeing you throughout the school year!
