Hello Elm Lawn Families,

We’re excited to share the latest updates, highlights, and upcoming events from our PTO and school community!


🌟 Building Belonging, Driving OpportunityGuest Speaker: Tony Dugas

We were pleased to welcome Tony Dugas, who shared valuable insights from his work supporting school culture across the district. With experience as both a teacher and principal, he highlighted:

  • Key student transitions (4th–5th and 8th–9th grades through Cardinal Launch)

  • The importance of strong school culture

  • Growing partnerships with organizations like the Boys & Girls Club, United Way, Urban League, and Color in the Outdoors

  • The increasing need for community partnerships due to reduced state funding


🏫 Principal’s Update

Thank you to our PTO for supporting the Hot Dog Hustle, EduKits, and the yearbook!

  • Classrooms are thriving—students are in strong routines and learning is in full swing

  • Forward Assessments were under underway for 3rd and 4th grades

  • Staff are beginning to plan for the 2026–27 school year

  • Staffing update: Most grades will have 3 sections; 4th grade will have 4 sections


👥 PTO Updates

Financials:Current balance is $72,000, with two additional checks expected


Get Involved:We have open PTO positions for the 2026–27 school year—please reach out if interested!


Yearbook & Spirit Wear:

  • New yearbook photographer next year

  • Updated spirit wear options coming soon


🎒 EduKit is Coming to Elm Lawn!

Skip the school supply shopping this year! EduKit offers teacher-approved supply kits customized by grade level.

  • Delivered to classrooms before Back to School Night

  • Order by June 25, 2026

🍎 Teacher Appreciation Week (May 3–8)

  • Sunday: Chalk the Walk

  • Monday: Masterpiece Monday

  • Tuesday: Tuesday Toasts

  • Wednesday: Teamwork Wednesday

  • Thursday: Thank Yous

  • Friday: Friday Flowers


🍔 Culver’s Night

Monday, May 4 | 5:00–8:00 PMWe especially need help from 7:00–8:00 PM—thank you for considering!


🌭 Hot Dog Hustle (May 20) Our biggest fundraiser of the year! Supports field trips, events, and classroom needs.

  • Packets went home by now and online information is on the Elm Lawn PTO website

  • Volunteers needed for food service and book fair. Click here to sign up!

  • Book fair may be outdoors (weather permitting)

  • 15 sponsors are covering event costs

  • Virtual auction: Name the Driveway (no proper names allowed)


📚 Book Fair BOGO (May 20–22) Join us during the Hustle and school hours! Click here to sign up to volunteer.


🏫 Final PTO Meeting (May 13) - please note the meeting date changed from May 6 to May 13

Join us in person for our final meeting of the year!

  • Snacks and refreshments provided

  • Learn about committees and open positions

  • A great way to get involved
