October PTO Newsletter

The crisp fall weather has finally arrived as we enter into our second month of school at The Lawn. The PTO hosted a very successful Fall Fest in late September on the playground - thanks to everyone that could make it to the event. We hosted our second PTO meeting of the year on October 10th at 6:30pm in the school library. Dr. Monogue joined us to share an update on district activities, celebrations, and strategic priorities. A few highlights from the information she shared include:

  • We are fully staffed this school year and student enrollment exceeded projections!

  • Class sizes are all within district guidelines and the launch of the new K-8 literacy/biliteracy curriculum in response to Act 20 has been successful.

  • We have had 7 consecutive years of clean financial audits and exemplary fiscal responsibility.

  • The district has achieved top ratings from Niche once again and has been rated as:

    • #1 District in Dane County

    • #1 Elementary (Pope Farm) and #2 Elementary (Elm Lawn!!!) Schools in Dane County

    • #1 Middle (Kromrey) and High School in Dane County

    • #1 School District for Teachers in Dane County

Dr. Monogue also noted that the strategic priorities of the district include (1) maintaining a focus on student achievemnt, (2) strengthening internvetion and special education services, (3) maintaining strong staff retention (currently at 90% annually), (4) advancing climate sustainability, and (5) communication and stakeholder engagement.

We hope you enjoyed our latest bookfair (October10,12,15) during our Family Engagement Sessions and the Jersey Mike's Fundraiser (October 16). Our next PTO meeting is on November 4th. All are welcome and encouraged to attend! Please also be on the lookout for any Spirit Wear orders - they will be coming soon. The children also recently worked on some excellent art projects that were sent to Square One. Order forms for this will be sent home in early November.
